My work is abstract and very textural and colourful exploring the materials I use which include wool, cotton, linen, plastics and other recycled and found objects including hand spun newspaper as well as pictorial imagery. My inspiration is from patterns in nature, decorative architecture and photographic imagery in public spaces which lends itself to my textural work and anything in my environment that excites me.

Designs are worked through sketches, doodles or collages to creating a working cartoon or purely from imagination and exploration of materials and techniques and experimental. I like exploring tapestry techniques to create textures and patterns in my work and alternate between textured and plain weave tapestries which sometimes results in being abstract in design. I just enjoy the tactile quality tapestry and its materials which is fun and gives me enormous pleasure while grappling with the design and technical issues.

I also run workshops for adults and children giving individuals an insight into the art of Tapestry and Weaving. Please contact me if you would like to participate in a workshop.
